I ended up spending three days with the band. They were from the Byron hinterland and were touring the outback playing at pubs along the way. Their entourage comprised a mother and her two sons, a father and his two sons, plus a friend.
They were heading along the same route as me, as far as Winton, and were all pretty chilled about me tagging along. So I stayed, and camped with them by desert creeks. Here's a little of what we got up to...
